People in general often refer to the whole abdominal are as a stomach. However, the stomach is an organ that is located in the upper left part of the abdomen and contains several muscles that help in the digestion. The stomach holds an ability to change the shape as a person eat or change posture.

The stomach is considered as the first he first intra-abdominal part of the person’s digestive tract and passed between the oesophagus and the small intestine. It plays an instrumental role in digestion and has certain important jobs to do which involve:

  • The temporary storage of food and liquids person intakes
  • Production of digestive juices (that helps in digestion)
  • Emptying the food mixture into the small intestine

The time taken by the stomach to digest the food entirely depends upon the type of food a person eats.
