Cancer Surgeon

Gynaec

Gynaecologic cancers affect the reproductive organs, which include the uterus, ovaries, cervix, vagina, and vulva. Early detection and the right surgical approach can make a remarkable difference — not only in treatment outcomes but also in quality of life after recovery.

Understanding Gynaecologic Cancers

Gynaecologic cancers are a diverse group of conditions that require tailored management. Our team specializes in treating all types, including:

  • Ovarian Cancer: Often detected in later stages, ovarian cancer requires expert surgical skill for complete tumor removal (cytoreduction/debulking).
  • Endometrial (Uterine) Cancer: Usually diagnosed early due to symptoms like abnormal bleeding — often curable with surgery alone.
  • Cervical Cancer: Preventable and treatable when detected early; surgery may be combined with radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
  • Vulvar and Vaginal Cancers: Rare cancers that need delicate and precise surgical management, often preserving function and appearance.
  • Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD): A rare pregnancy-related tumor that sometimes requires surgery after chemotherapy.

Each woman’s condition is unique. We design treatment plans that consider your age, fertility wishes, stage of disease, and personal priorities.

Our Surgical Expertise

Surgery remains the most important step in treating many gynaecologic cancers. Our approach balances complete cancer removal with preserving as much normal tissue and function as possible.

Minimally Invasive Surgeries

Whenever suitable, we prefer keyhole or robotic-assisted techniques because they mean:

  • Smaller incisions and scars
  • Less pain and blood loss
  • Shorter hospital stay and faster return to normal life

These techniques are particularly useful in early-stage endometrial and ovarian cancers, and for staging or diagnostic procedures.

Open Surgeries (Laparotomy)

For advanced or complex cancers, traditional open surgery allows full access to the abdomen or pelvis, enabling complete removal of large or widespread tumors.

Our surgeons are extensively trained in:

  • Radical Hysterectomy – removing the uterus, cervix, part of the vagina, and nearby tissues for cervical cancer.
  • Cytoreductive (Debulking) Surgery – removing as much visible tumor as possible in advanced ovarian cancers.
  • Pelvic Exenteration – a life-saving procedure in select advanced or recurrent cases.

Fertility-Preserving Procedures

For younger women, maintaining the ability to have children is often a deep concern.

In suitable cases, we offer:

  • Fertility-sparing hysterectomy or trachelectomy (preserving the uterus or cervix).
  • Unilateral oophorectomy (removal of one ovary).
  • Egg or embryo preservation in coordination with fertility specialists.

Every step is taken to safeguard your future choices, without compromising safety.

Before Surgery — Preparing with Confidence

We believe knowledge and reassurance are the best medicine before surgery.

Your Pre-surgical Journey Includes:

  • Detailed evaluation: Imaging (CT, MRI, PET), blood work, and biopsy confirmation.
  • Multidisciplinary planning: Surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and anesthetists collaborate to design a precise plan.
  • Personal counseling: We explain the procedure, risks, alternatives, and recovery — openly and honestly.
  • Emotional readiness: Our counselors and nursing team help reduce anxiety and prepare you mentally and physically.

We encourage you to bring a family member or friend to these consultations — your support system is part of your care team.

After Surgery — Healing with Care

Recovery is more than just wound healing — it’s about regaining your confidence, strength, and comfort.

After surgery, you’ll be:

  • Monitored closely in a specialized recovery unit.
  • Supported by nurses trained in post-oncologic care.
  • Guided through pain management, mobility exercises, and gentle nutrition.
