At CUSP, we follow world-class set practices for Piles Surgery. We make sure that our patients are getting an inclusive management with proper assessment, surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation. In the light of some frequently asked questions we tried to state certain facts about piles surgery.
Piles also known as hemorrhoid is the swollen blood vessel present in the lowest part of the rectum. Sometimes these blood vessels become really thin leading to the veins to almost protrude out and get irritated especially while defecating.
Hemorrhoids are external as well as internal and can be caused due to many factors, one of which is genetic or lifestyle.
Surgical hemorrhoidectomyis considered as the most effective treatment for piles and gives much relief to patients. However, it is also associated with some complications. In most of the cases a healthy lifestyle, few medications, and a good diet get rid of hemorrhoid, however, in case it persists, surgeries are to be performed. The surgeries thus performed are painless non-invasive hemorrhoid treatment. Even though it hurts, surgery is a better and well suited option as it is long term solution with fewer complications, especially when hemorrhoids are bleeding, painful and large. Hemorrhoid surgery is safe, effective and less time consuming mostly.
Some common complications associated with piles surgery are, light bleeding, clear to yellowish fluid from the anus, rectal pockets, pain in and around anus, stool leakage can be seen in few cases, problem while passing urine due to pain and infection.
Symptoms might not be present which will leave it un-noticed. Some of the symptoms for external and/or internal hemorrhoid are pain and itching around the anus, tender lumps around the anus, bleeding during bowel movements and prolapse, a situation in which hemorrhoid falls out of the anus.
Our specialists suggest the patients to have a high fiber-rich diet and avoid constipation while taking care of the lower abdomen to prevent any hemorrhoid from flaring up. If one takes a look at the recovery time, after one to two weeks the patients are suitable enough to join their normal daily routine.
Coagulation treats internal hemorrhoids which are not protruding. Our specialists’ se infra-red light or electric current to form scar on the hemorrhoid which hinders the blood flow, thus causing it to fall off.
It is the surgical removal of hemorrhoid in which the specialist uses a local anesthesia or a spinal block. Surgeon will make a cut in the anus and remove hemorrhoid surgically. After the surgery the wounds are either sealed or left open depending upon the case.
It is a non-invasive method in which our specials inject the hemorrhoid with a chemical solution which numbs the hemorrhoid and leads to scar formation in it, this hinders the blood flow and eventually it falls off.
It is also a surgical procedure in which our specialists perform the procedure by stapling the hemorrhoid into its normal position in the anal canal. This restricts the blood flow and leads to reduction in its size.
To make the recovery faster it is suggested that the patents should avoid sitting for longer hours, drink plenty of water, not straining during bowel movement, avoid heavy lifting and eat fiber rich diet.
It is critical to profoundly understand what really matters to patients when it comes to disease management and treatment expectations.
